Troubleshooting

My video won't load.

Click the "Report Video Issue" button on the "F1.Queue" tab and message a CSL if available.

Video Formalizer is reporting the wrong length of content for my job.

Use the "Report Length Mismatch" button on the "F1.Queue" tab. Note: Only use this if Video Formalizer is reporting an incorrect length for the transcribeable content of a job. Any content after the credits of a show should not be considered in these cases.

Video Formalizer is telling me I have an open session when I try to log in.

This normally happens after Video Formalizer crashes or you are not logged out properly for some reason. If this happens, let an available CSL know, and they can close the active session and allow you to log in again. If a CSL is unavailable, the server automatically closes any incorrectly open sessions every few minutes, so simply wait, and the session will close by itself.

Video Formalizer hung for a moment, and now all I have is a white screen.

Wait 5 to 10 seconds. Video Formalizer is likely processing something. If the white screen persists for more than 10 seconds, you can simply close and re-open Video Formalizer. Alert a CSL as your previously open session will need to be terminated before you can log in. If no CSL is available, Video Formalizer will terminate your open session after 10 minutes.

There's supposed to be text in my text box, and it's missing.

In the Text Restore tab, you will find a few options for restoring your text. The easiest way is to select a date and time when the text was saved and click Restore. If there are no times available, click "Load Previous Iteration." If neither of these work, contact a CSL. See Text Restore: The Unabridged Field Guide for more information.

When I clicked Mark Complete, the spell checker began to run, then all of my text disappeared, and a message box saying, "Spell check is complete," or "You already have a file docked," popped up.

This can happen when there is a hiccup in the server's docking status. To fix it, simply close Video Formalizer by clicking the X in the upper right of the window and log in again. You may have a session open (see above). If you lose your text on logging back in, contact a CSL.

My text and cursor seemed to disappear below the transcription window, and I can't scroll down to find it.

Press and hold the down arrow on your keyboard for a second, release, then press End, then Enter. This will move your cursor to the end of your text and create line breaks to continue typing within the window. Double-check to ensure you didn't accidentally leave any text hiding outside of the window.

My audio is garbled.

Sometimes an error happens when a job loads in that causes the audio to play back garbled and hard to understand. An odd but simple fix is to speed up and slow down the playback speed very quickly (Ctrl + and Ctrl -) then press default (Ctrl *). If this does not work, close docking and redock. Reach out to a CSL if poor audio quality persists.
