Custom Responsibilities

Members of the Custom team are responsible for meeting a special set of standards. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Check for Custom work at the start of your shift.
  • If you see a job, it's yours to dock! If you see "No Work Available," please work on Formalizer. PLEASE NOTE there are a few job types we will not process: jobs mostly or entirely in a foreign language. Please close your docking and notify a CSL immediately if you've docked either of these types of jobs (or if you're not sure).
  • Be logged in and active on Psi if you're working on a Custom job.
  • Communicate schedule changes or any job-related concerns to customoffice at copytalk.com.
  • Working outside of your COSA schedule may result in your job auto-forfeiting. Please update your schedule accordingly to reflect when you'll be logged in.
  • Working remotely outside of your office's designated hours may result in your job auto-forfeiting or being canceled.
  • Working in Formalizer while you have Custom work docked may result in your job auto-forfeiting.
  • Keep Internet usage focused and work-appropriate.
  • Follow job type instructions and job notices with careful detail.
  • Once Milestones are achieved, maintain the minimum Custom stats of 3.4 XF, 15 ACPH, 40 CPH.

At the start of your shift, please log into Video Formalizer to check for Custom work and dock whatever job is available, assuming you are able to complete it by its due date. Please let Custom MGMT know if you can't finish the job by its due date. (For instance, the job is due March 9, but it's the currently the end of your shift on the 8th, and you don't have another shift until the 11th). Please note that working outside of your COSA schedule or outside of your office's designated open hours may result in a job auto-forfeiting. This automated forfeiture can't be undone and is designed to help manage our capacity and deadlines.

Therefore, maintaining an accurate COSA schedule is key to working in Custom. Please use COSA as you normally would to input any needed schedule changes, included with correspondence to Custom MGMT (either via email to customoffice at coptalk.com or directly on Psi).

Custom MGMT may need to reach out to you for a variety of reasons if you're actively working on a Custom job. Please be logged in and active on Psi at all times when working in Custom. If you're having an issue with logging into PSI, please reach out via email to your office's management or to the Custom team.

Custom scribes have access to the Internet for job-related research. We expect you to use this to your advantage to research terms, names, places and so much more. It is the Custom scribe's responsibility to keep Internet usage focused and work-appropriate. This means NOT checking your personal e-mail, using various forms of social media, participating in bulletin boards ... Use your best judgment and contact Custom MGMT if you're unsure if the site you need to visit is work-appropriate. Failure to observe these rules will result in immediate removal from the Custom team.

Custom XF productivity rate increases start at 3.4 XF and increase again at 2.8 and 2.4. We require that each Custom scribe maintain an average minimum 3.4 XF. An XF above this may result in work being blocked from your queue. Stats fluctuate with different kinds and amounts of work, but you'll be expected to maintain certain stat levels as you advance through the Custom Milestones. Maintaining good Custom stats will also give you the best change of getting more Custom work. Our system WILL prioritize the scribes with the best stats when making work available. See Stats for more details.

Thank you for being a part of the Custom team! If you have any questions related to the expectations listed above, please reach out to the Custom MGMT, and we can discuss further. Above all, communication is key!
