Reference Sheets

Index

Overview

Reference Sheets are top priority information sources. As such, they should be the first resource you rely on for information regarding the program you are transcribing.

Reference Sheets can contain:
- Special content
- Processing instructions
- Efficiency tips
- Macro ideas
- Common phrases and words

How-To

Most of the time, the Reference Sheet you need to use is the title of the show or company name. Job Notices may also inform you of the correct Reference Sheet to use for Basic Caption jobs.

Once you've docked a job, locate the Reference Sheet associated with that job.

  1. Check Job Notice.
  2. Go to the Reference Sheet tab
  3. Type the RS name in the search bar.

Tip: Sometimes the Reference Sheet title may different slightly from show titles. For instance, the Reference Sheet for the show "The Profit" is titled "Profit, The."

  1. Select the appropriate Reference Sheet from the dropdown
  2. Click Load.

A new window will open with the Reference Sheet information.

Note that Buzzr, CMAX, Goog and Epic job types all have corresponding Reference Sheets.

If there is not a notice of Reference Sheet to use and you cannot confirm, do not assume that a Reference Sheet is not required. Please reach out to a CSL if available to confirm whether a Reference Sheet is required.

See Research Guide for more information about Research.
