June AXF Contest

Table of contents:

We have a responsibility to process high quality work as efficiently as is reasonably possible.  But efficiency is not JUST about Scribe X-Factor!  Other factors such as quality are important too.  For example, someone at a 2.0 scribe XF who needs 20% of their work reviewed by QA is actually overall less productive than a person at a 2.1 scribe XF whose work doesn’t need QA review much at all.  This has the potential to be incredibly complicated and we wanted something simple to measure and understand.  Of course any metric, particularly a new metric, may be overly reductionistic.  This is why it’s important that we established that whatever system we implemented would allow some discretion based on individual factors.

What we have decided to try out is a new metric we are naming “Aggregate X-Factor” (AXF for short).  This stat is being used on a trial basis only.  It isn’t a number that COSA shows, but it does use the data that COSA shows.

We also want to better understand how this Aggregate XF (AXF) stat might work and whether there’s any value in implementing this long-term.  So we are holding a contest and offering over $200 in prizes over the next month, and all of this is related to your AXF!

If you are a Proficient Scribe, you already have a great level of productivity!  So you will automatically accrue points in the June contest regardless of your AXF.

If you are not yet a Proficient Scribe, there are many things that can be done to improve AXF.

We will be sending an individual e-mail to every active employee with information about their aggregate X-Factor.  This metric represents how much on-the-clock time each employee spends in order to process dictation. For example, if a scribe spends 4 hours on the clock (a combination of time spent in Formalizer, review jobs, on break, etc.), and processes 2 hours of dictation, their "Aggregate XF" (AXF) is 2.0.  AXF can be improved by having a better scribe X-Factor, by avoiding excess amounts of time spent on review jobs, break, idle, etc., and by generally having better quality.

The Prizes:

We are raffling off over $200 in prizes.  The more “points” you have, the more chances you have to win a prize!

  • We will send an update via e-mail each week with a summary of your stats for the prior week.
  • If you are a Proficient Scribe, you can earn up to 5 points per week.
    • You will earn 2 points per week you work regardless of your stats (your productivity is already great!)
    • You will earn an additional 2 points if you meet or beat your best single-scribe-XF day
    • You will earn an additional point if you send 95% or more of your jobs Direct-Send.
  • If you are not a Proficient Scribe, you can earn up to 4 points per week.
    • AXF improves by at least 0.01?  1 point.
    • AXF improves by at least 0.05?  1 additional point (total of 2)
    • AXF improves by at least 0.1?  1 additional point (total of 3)
    • You will earn 1 point if you send 95% or more of your jobs Direct-Send.

In the individual e-mails we send, you will be able to see:

  • What is your best single-scribe-XF day in the prior month?
  • How exactly your AXF is calculated.
  • What is your current Aggregate XF (AXF)?
  • Your Direct-Send percentage for the week
  • How many points you have accrued.

We will then tally up all the points for the below time periods:

  • Week Beginning June 10
  • Week Beginning June 17
  • Week Beginning June 24
  • Week Beginning July 1

During the week of July 8, we will draw prizes and contact the winners!
